HOW WILL MY ORDER ARRIVE?

Each custom printed or vintage limited-edition piece is hand stamped and numbered, placed in a protective covering, and gift-wrapped. Each print arrives with a Certificate of Authenticity.

Whether you are investing in a piece for yourself or a gift for someone else, we are dedicated to providing our collectors with a unique and memorable experience – one that is inspired by the special and emotional quality of the artwork itself.

HOW WILL I KNOW THE ARTWORK IS AUTHENTIC?

Your new print will arrive with a variety of authenticating elements inherent to the piece itself. Elements such as certification numbers, signature stamping, subtle embossments, and watermarks – all standing to affirm the print’s legitimacy. You will also receive a Certificate of Authenticity, signed by the owner of The Christy Collection, guaranteeing that you are collecting a genuine Christy Edwards work of art.

WHICH PRINTS ARE LIMITED EDITION?

‘The Christy Collection’ is the original collector’s edition print run from 1983 consisting of eight watercolor paintings of Fire Island scenes, 1000 prints created of each. While many have sold over the years, a group was set aside and preserved. These are the prints that remain today.

Having been printed in 1983, the print may (or may not) include special characteristics inherent to the printing techniques at the time and subtle inclusions such as paper or brush fibers and fine bits of paint. We believe these tiny details not only add to the piece’s authentic quality and genuine beauty but also act as a testament to valuable parts of the individual piece’s story.

WHICH ARE THE SEASONAL PRINTS?

All prints aside from the eight limited edition prints (‘The Christy Collection’) and ‘Montauk Lighthouse’ (coming soon) are open edition prints, meaning there is no determinate number of prints created. These pieces are available for a limited-time-only, making them rare in their own right. Every three months a new seasonal collection will be released and the previous season’s curation will return to the archive indefinitely.

These seasonal, limited-time release pieces are custom printed to order using the giclée technique, on archival paper.

WHY LIMITED TIME?

In honor of our established collectors and new-found patrons alike, we believe it is important to preserve the rare nature of art itself. Releasing small, curated selections seasonally, we are able to thoughtfully pay tribute to each piece of work, all the while preserving the time-honored tradition of exclusivity within art creation and collecting.

WHEN WILL NEW COLLECTIONS BE RELEASED?

WHAT MATERIALS DO YOU USE?

All seasonal prints are crafted using the highest quality giclée inks and techniques on matte, archival paper. Each piece is matted using museum-quality, archival cotton matboard, which is both 100% acid-free and lignin-free.

ARE OTHER SIZES AVAILABLE?

For now, 16×20 is the standard print size available. If you are interested in a smaller or larger format print please feel free to email hello@christyedwards.com.

ARE THERE ANY CHRISTY EDWARDS ORIGINALS AVAILABLE TO PURCHASE?

While most of the originals collection is privately owned, there are a small number of original pieces that will be available for purchase. Please join our newsletter to be made aware when these very special, original pieces are made available.

– ARTWORK CARE –

HOW DO I CARE FOR MY NEW GICLÉE?

As is true with any valued piece of fine art, it is recommended to avoid contact with both sunlight and moisture, instead, displaying the piece in indirect lighting and in a dry place. Conditions such as high humidity and excessive temperatures, as well as contact with oils, dust, chemicals, adhesives, and smoke may all cause permanent damage to your print.

It is best to handle artwork minimally, using clean hands, and avoiding direct contact to fingertips (oil). Holding prints softly, gripping the underneath and outside edges of the print is recommended.

Your new print will arrive in a glassine wrap, as well as a protective poly sleeve. When you are ready to insert the print into a frame, remove the poly sleeve beforehand.

HOW DO I CARE FOR MY NEW LIMITED-EDITION PRINT?

These are original prints from the early 1980s in mint condition. Due to their vintage and delicate nature, these pieces may require a small amount of additional consideration especially when it comes to protection from sun exposure. These prints are best placed out of direct sunlight, and may also benefit from additional UV protection within the glass or acrylic of its frame.

I AM A COLLECTOR AND WOULD LIKE TO KNOW THE BEST WAY TO STORE PRINTS WHILE OTHERS ARE ON DISPLAY

There are various ways to store fine art prints between times of display properly.

Switching work out from time to time may even protect and extend it’s life, allowing the piece a moment away from damaging elements such as sunlight. Keep in mind: the three main elements we look to protect our artwork from are sunlight, acid, and moisture.

With unframed prints, we suggest wrapping or layering the piece in glassine paper (an acid-free and water-resistant paper) and enclosing it in a breathable box or case. Zippered portfolio cases and archival boxes are great options for art storage. While other pieces of artwork, such as oils and acrylics, should never be stacked – watercolor prints are fine to do so with. As long as the pieces are separated from one another with glassine or another acid-free archival option, the stacked prints will be perfectly preserved.

Framed prints may be wrapped in paper, cardboard, or cloth and stored carefully stacked upright or laid flat somewhere elevated (never stacked horizontally).

Make sure to store these off-duty prints in a temperate environment (ideal conditions are approximately 70°, 55% humidity), avoiding extreme heat or cold, as well as basements and attics if possible.

Please allow 1-2 days for processing and 2-5 days for shipping. Most orders local to New York will arrive in 2-3 days.

We are dedicated to offering accurate depictions and descriptions of the artwork we offer. If for some reason you are dissatisfied, please contact us within 14 days and we will happily issue an exchange.

Each piece is checked thoroughly and hand-packed, however, if you feel as though you’ve received a damaged or defective piece, please contact us immediately. If you suspect the piece was damaged in shipping, please let us know within 48 hours so that we may initiate a replacement or refund as soon as possible.
